Cookie Policy

How Smooth Roots uses cookies, browser storage, checkout sessions, and bot-protection tools.

Last updated: June 7, 2026

This is production-prep policy copy, not legal advice. Have a lawyer review it with the final Smooth Roots checkout, analytics, email, and hosting setup.

1. Overview

This Cookie Policy explains how Smooth Roots may use cookies, local storage, session storage, pixels, and similar technologies on our website. It should be reviewed by a lawyer before launch and updated whenever new analytics, advertising, checkout, or email tools are added.

Cookies are small files stored by your browser. Browser storage works similarly by saving limited information on your device so the website can remember useful settings and operate correctly.

2. Technologies we currently expect to use

Smooth Roots may use cookies or browser storage for customer authentication, cart persistence, theme preference, bot protection, checkout security, order confirmation, fraud prevention, and site operation.

The current production stack is designed around Supabase Auth for accounts, Stripe Checkout for payments, Cloudflare Turnstile for bot protection, and local browser storage for cart and theme preference.

3. Essential cookies and storage

Essential cookies and storage are used to keep the website working. These may support login sessions, cart contents, checkout redirects, security checks, and customer account access.

Disabling essential cookies or storage may prevent account login, cart behavior, checkout, or security verification from working correctly.

4. Preference storage

Smooth Roots may remember preferences such as light or dark mode and cart contents using browser storage. This improves the experience when returning to the website from the same browser.

5. Payment and fraud-prevention tools

Stripe Checkout is expected to process payments on Stripe-hosted pages. Stripe may use cookies and similar technologies for checkout security, payment processing, fraud prevention, and payment session management according to Stripe’s own policies.

6. Bot-protection tools

Cloudflare Turnstile may be used on sign-in and account creation forms to help confirm that requests are coming from real visitors rather than automated bots. Turnstile may process technical signals needed for bot detection according to Cloudflare’s policies.

7. Analytics and marketing tools

Smooth Roots includes a cookie consent system that keeps analytics and marketing tools disabled until a visitor accepts them. If analytics is enabled, the site can load Plausible and/or Google Analytics 4 using the public environment variables configured by the site owner.

Marketing storage is included as a future-ready consent category for advertising pixels, retargeting, email campaign measurement, or similar tools. Marketing tools should not be added unless this policy and the Privacy Policy accurately describe the provider and purpose.

8. Managing cookies

Most browsers let you block, delete, or limit cookies and site storage. Browser controls vary by device and browser. Blocking cookies or site storage may affect account login, cart behavior, checkout, and security features.

Because Smooth Roots uses some technologies that are essential to account security and checkout, not all cookies or storage can be disabled without affecting the website. Visitors can reset this site's consent banner from this page and choose Accept all, Necessary only, or custom settings again.

9. Updates

Smooth Roots may update this Cookie Policy when the website changes, new service providers are added, or legal requirements change. The updated version will be posted on this page.

Manage your choices

You can reset this browser's Smooth Roots cookie consent choice and reopen the banner at any time.
